- The best way to get parts is to find a donor mustang. This way,
you have everything you need. You can find a good donor at a junkyard and
cut a deal with the owner for all the conversion parts so he will not charge
you for each part every time you leave. It is also possible, but for more
money, to buy a kit from stangparts
. They will strip the mustang for you, make a kit, and sent it to you.
They offer free delivery to certain racing events they are attending if
you are willing to pick the parts up.
- Make sure you get a good looking clutch and flywheel. These
can be purchased new from . I recommend a new flywheel. It is possible
to re-cut these, but Ford and DDperformance
don't recommend it. I did it anyway and ended up taking the trans out
again, to change the flywheel because the threads that held on the pressure
plate failed. Vibrating stuff to pieces.
- If your going to put in a Tremec, you will need more than just
the transmission. There is a special bell housing and clutch too. Hang
on to your AOD cross member because you will need to use that one instead
of the T-5 cross member. All these parts as well as advice is available
from DDperformance.
